Assessments
Results:
Westford School uses an assortment of local, district, state and
national assessment protocols. A reminder that September and early
October are now the time in which we complete a significant portion of
out assessment protocol. Exceptions are the D.R.A. and N.A.E.P.
The following is a brief description of each assessment used at
Westford along with an approximate date of administration.
|
P.O.A.: In September we will begin assessing k-2 grade students in the area of
reading with the Primary Observation Assessment or P.O.A. The P.O.A. is
assessed three times throughout the year; September, December and May.
|
D.R.A. In May of each year all second graders are administered the
Diagnostic Reading Assessment or D.R.A. to measure achievement in
Reading.
|
|
Gates-Macginitie: We will be assessing students in grades 3-8 in the
area of reading and vocabulary with the Gates- Macginitie Reading
Assessment. The Gates will typically be administered in the second or
third week of September.
|
NECAP: During the first two week of October we will be assessing
students in grades 3-8 with the New England Common Assessment Protocol
or NECAP. A practice test will be administered in late September. The
NECAP is used to assess reading and math in grades 3-8, with an
additional assessment of writing in grades 5 and 8. |
|
NAEP: The National Assessment of Educational Progress is administered
in Westford at the direction of the State Department of Education. This
year we will be administering the N.A.E.P. to our 4th and 8th grades in
January. This year our students will be tested in reading, math and
writing. |
|
Information specific to each assessment will be provided prior to the
actual testing dates. If you have any questions about any of the
assessments used at Westford School, please contact your
child’s teacher, Principal, Patrick Hartnett or School
District Curriculum Coordinator, Linda Keating.
