Jack Gantos lives in Pennsylvania. Jack was not exposed to children's books when he was a child. When he was growing up he loved to read. He thought he could replace trailer parks with bookmobiles.Jack is 45 years old, he was born in 1955.
When he was in sixth grade, his writing career was planted. It all started when he got a hold of his sisters diary and he thought that he could write better than she could. Before he started school he used to pretend that his clothes were on fire and he would roll down the hill and put it out.
In school he was in the Blue Bird group, The group for slow readers
.Jacks family moved to Barbados when he was seven years old. Then they moved to Florida.
Now he is teaching in a college for children's book writing. Jack continued writing Children's books even after he completed college
.The books Jack has wrote are Jack on the tracks,He has also written a series of Rotten Ralph books. He has a series of eight Rotten Ralph books , he has written so far,Not So Rotten Ralph,Rotten Ralph's Rotten Romance,Worse than Rotten Ralph, Rotten Ralph's Trick Or Treat,Rotten Ralph's Show And Tell,Happy Birthday Rotten Ralph, and more.
Jack thinks it is silly for a kid to know their future. He also wants to know how you write books for children if you donšt have any?
If Jacks books were on a scale from 1 to 10, I would give them an 11 because they are really really fun to read and also exiting .
I would suggest that you should put any other book that you are reading down, and go to your local library and check out a book by Jack Gantos. The book Jack on the Tracks won the Dorothy Canfield Fisher award.
The Dorothy Canfield Fisher award is a award that the kids decide who gets the award for the best and most exiting book. The D.C.F.. award is decided on by Vermont school children.
