MCS Sixth Graders Audition
for Music Festivals
Four of our MCS sixth
graders took on the challenge of preparing and auditioning
for one of the Green Mountain Music District music
festivals. On the evening of November 12, Mary Kate Clark
(saxophone), Robin Kuhns (bassoon), Courtney Panton (vocal),
and Bailey Sherwin (vocal) went to Otter Valley High School
to try out for a place in either the band or chorus. These
students put in extra hours of practices to learn audition
pieces. Students from grades 6-8 from 56 schools were
eligible to audition. I’m sure these students are eager to
learn the results of their auditions. Many thanks to Ms.
Katherine Clark for her time driving and chaperoning these
students to Otter Valley for their auditions. In addition,
on the evening of Nov. 5, I chaperoned 27 Mt. Abraham H.S.
students from Grades 9-12 for their music festival auditions
at Proctor High School. I have a bit of pride in stating
that 11 of those students are MCS
graduates!
