Student Assessment Report
2005 - 2006
The
New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) Results
In October of this year, as
part of their efforts to comply with provisions found in the Federal “No Child
Left Behind” Act, the state implemented the New England Common Assessment
Program (NECAP).
Students in grades three through six took the reading and math portion of the
test. In addition, students in grade five also took a writing portion. The
content was based on the recently released Vermont’s grade level expectations
(GLEs). Each test included a variety of types of items distributed across 2 or 3
test sessions: multiple-choice, short answer, constructed-response, and an
extended writing prompt.
On Wednesday, March 22, 2005, Education Commissioner
Cate released statewide results to the press and made state, district and school
level reports available to the public at www.education.vermont.gov.
Individual student reports were mailed home in April. At this time we wanted to
share our school, district, and state results with you. As educators, we will
continue to use state assessments as well as other measures to evaluate our
strengths and weakness and plan for the future. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to contact me.
